- 1 1/4 Cups Milk

- 1 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda

- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Into a large bowl, measure all ingredients
- With mixer at low speed, beat until well mixed, constantly scraping bowl with rubber spatula.
- Beat at high speed for 5 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl.
- Pour batter into pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool layers in pans on wire racks 10 minute; remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
- Makes 2 layers.
- Cupcakes:
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Place paper liners in 2 dozen 3 inch muffin-pan cups, or grease and flour cups.
- Prepare cake batter as above but pour into cups, filling each half full.
- Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of one comes out clean.
- Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
- Makes 2 dozen
